I did “sit-down comedy” for the first time this past weekend and it was awesome!
Steve, a guy who provides housing and mentorship for about a 1/2 dozen recovering alcoholics, invited me to come by and share my funny story with the guys.
It was very different than other stuff I have done in part because it was a small group of us sitting in the living room, but also because the “dramatic” parts of my story were nothing compared to the homelessness, poverty and loss many of the guys had experienced.
But… it worked. We laughed together and enjoyed each other’s company. We talked, told some stories and prayed together. I was so happy to connect, entertain & encourage.
Then something unexpected happened the very next day. Steve contacted me to say they were sending me a check to support what I am doing with comedy, speaking and recovery support.
This was unexpected and very impactful. I was humbled to learn that my vision resonates.
It resonates with important people. It resonates with people who are doing great work. It resonates enough for this organization to direct a portion of their tightly stretched budget to support me and allow me to continue along this journey.
Wow! Thank You! I am so wildly blessed!
Thank you for the opportunity to connect with the guys. Thank you for the financial gift. And Thank you for encouraging me through this journey.
